The Charente-Maritime region offers a host of family activities, including a visit to La Palmyre zoo, 10 minutes from the 4-star campsite, strolls through the narrow streets of La Rochelle, 1 hour from the campsite, boat cruises around Fort Boyard from the port of La Tremblade or Fouras, and day trips to the beaches from Meschers sur Gironde to La Rochelle via Ile d’Oléron.
Speaking of islands, you’ll love setting off from the 2 Plages campsite to discover the islands of the Charente-Maritime region, such as Ile d’Aix and Ile de Ré… Thanks to its privileged location in the heart of the Royannais region, you’ll be able to multiply your excursions by the ocean without ever tiring of the scenery. A word of advice: the best way to discover the region is by bike!
The campsite is located 600 m from the Velodyssé route, which runs from the south of France to the north. From the campsite in Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, you can take a stroll from Royan to Marennes-Oléron, where you’ll want to stop for oysters and a glass of Charente-Maritime pineau.
And let’s not forget Rochefort, where you can discover the royal rope factory and visit the Hermione. On the way back to the 2 Plages campsite, you can stop off to visit the wineries producing Charentais wines such as cognac and pineau.
