Discover La Palmyre Zoo
Located near the Deux Plages campsite, La Palmyre Zoo is one of Europe’s most renowned zoos.
In fact, the zoo is just 10 kilometers from the La Palmyre campsite.
Over 1,600 animals from every continent are on display for visitors to marvel at… Asian elephants, polar bears, Bornean orangutans, Madagascan lemurs and Caribbean flamingos rub shoulders with Nepalese pandas and African zebras… and many more!
Spend a day at La Palmyre Zoo, just a 10-minute drive from the campsite!
Along its shady paths winding through 18 hectares of pine forest, 1,600 animals of 115 different species can be discovered in a magnificent environment adapted to the biology of each of them.
Every year, the park registers between 200 and 300 births. This success is due in no small part to the rigorous monitoring of reproduction within the groups, and the care given to the animals’ diet and well-being.
Safeguarding species
La Palmyre Zoo also plays an important role in safeguarding endangered species, participating in 40 European Breeding Programs (EEP), 16 European Studbooks (ESB) and financing several in situ species conservation programs (orangutans in Borneo, hornbills in Thailand, gorillas in Gabon, turquoise-eyed lemurs in Madagascar, Cape penguins in South Africa, pinnacles in Colombia…).
Easy access from the cycle path at the bottom of the Saint-Palais-sur-Mer campsite, so no traffic jams or parking problems.
